SoarIndy is Indiana’s largest soaring club.

During a typical season we make more than 1000 sailplane flights from the Alexandria Airport.

On a typical day over 20 pilots will be towed into the air for flights ranging from a few minutes to over 5 hours, some covering distances of over 100 and up to 300 miles.

Congratulations to Parker Blankenship who soloed on his 14th Birthday! In order to fly solo as a student pilot, the pilot must be at least 14 years old. This is the first time in the history of SoarIndy that we had a student solo on their 14th birthday. Way to go Parker achieving this significant milestone!

Soar Indy is a Soaring Club and member of the Soaring Society of America is open Weekends April through October , weather permitting, We have 3 club ships and two tow planes, The club provides instruction to its members and we have about 14 private gliders at the field.
